At University of Sheffield I met my best mate Pete Caine. We quickly found five others with similar aspirations as ours, having a good time, like drinking beer and girls. To this date we are pretty much still in touch with each other, Graham Carbert, Ken Mullarkey, Terry O'Connor, Mike McLoughlin and Rich Long. Unfortunately I've lost touch with Rich.
Pete gained a first in Metallurgy at Sheffield and started work at British Steel in Sheffield. However the family business was down in South Wales, Saundersfoot to be exact. After about a year at British Steel he moved back down to Saundersfoot to work in the family business, which included a pub, The Hean Castle. I spent many happy holidays working there.
As we left Sheffield we vowed to stay friends forever and keep in touch. Over the years we've dispersed across the world. I'm retired in Las Vegas after spending 35 years in the Bay Area, California. Others are in Tasmania, New Zealand and the Philippines. Terry stayed in England.
